Types of therapy

Some departments offer treatment such as botulinum injections for dystonias and movement disorders, or treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome at the same time as diagnostic testing. Some epilepsy departments are staffed in part by clinical neurophysiologists who may also treat patients, although this model is less common in the UK than elsewhere.

Detailed technical information regarding the practical aspects of providing a service are available in the joint British Society for Clinical Neurophysiology (BSCN) and Association of Neurophysiological Scientists (ANS) recommendations, guidelines and minimum standards
